Subaru Stella Fuel System Fix Advice Needed

Looking for advice on fuel system problems in my 2019 Subaru Stella (gas, 129845km). Car struggles to stay running at idle, power feels weak, and check engine is lit up. Pretty sure its the fuel volume regulator but got burned by my last mechanic visit. Has anyone dealt with similar fuel injection issues? What was your repair experience and cost? Want to be prepared before heading to a new shop for automotive repair.

A failing high pressure fuel pump caused similar symptoms on my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. The rough idling and power loss started gradually, but the check engine light made it clear something was wrong with the fuel system. The car sensors detected irregular fuel pressure, pointing to the fuel regulator and pump assembly. Car maintenance records showed the original pump, which meant it was due for replacement. The repair required removing the fuel tank and replacing the entire pump assembly since individual components arent serviceable. This was a serious repair that affected the entire fuel delivery system. When fuel pressure is inconsistent, it leads to poor combustion and can damage other components if left unfixed. The original symptoms matched yours, unstable idle, weak acceleration, and warning lights. The shop needed special tools and about 6 hours for proper diagnosis and repair. They also replaced associated seals and filters while the system was open. Consider having them check the fuel pressure regulator and injectors while diagnosing, since these components work together in the fuel system. Getting this fixed properly prevented potential damage to more expensive engine components. Make sure any shop you choose has experience with Subaru fuel systems and can properly test fuel pressure before and after repairs.

Thanks for sharing your fuel system experience. My repair was very similar with diagnostic tests confirming problems with the fuel regulator and pump. Did the fix completely solve your fuel economy and performance issues? Curious if any other car sensors triggered warnings later or if you needed additional automotive repair work done. Also, would you mind sharing what the total repair cost came to? I got multiple quotes when my fuel system issues started, but prices varied quite a bit between shops. It would help to know what others paid for similar work.

After getting the high pressure pump and fuel volume regulator replaced, my fuel system has worked flawlessly. The rough idling disappeared completely and power delivery returned to normal. The repair cost totaled 1510€ for parts and labor, which included comprehensive testing of the fuel pressure. The car sensors have not shown any warning lights since the fix, and fuel economy is back to factory specifications. No additional automotive repair has been needed related to the fuel system. The shop did a thorough job testing all connected components while the system was open, which likely prevented future issues. The investment was worth it to restore proper fuel delivery and prevent potential engine damage. When fuel system components fail, addressing them promptly helps avoid cascading problems with injectors and other related parts. Regular maintenance of the fuel system is crucial for preventing similar issues in the future.

Thanks for the input. Finally got my car back from the repair shop today. Just like mentioned, it was indeed the fuel regulator causing the problems. The mechanic found low fuel pressure readings during testing. They ended up replacing the fuel volume regulator and did a full system inspection while everything was apart. Total cost came to 1280€ including parts, labor and testing. More than I hoped but less than I feared after reading about others experiences. Car runs perfectly now, stable idle, strong acceleration, and no more check engine light. Fuel economy is noticeably better too. The new shop did great work and showed me the worn parts they removed. Getting multiple quotes definitely helped avoid overpaying for the automotive repair. Glad I addressed the fuel injection issues quickly before they could cause more extensive damage. Will be staying on top of regular car maintenance to hopefully prevent similar problems in the future.
