Summary of the thread
A 2017 Chevrolet Suburban is experiencing a persistent ABS lamp issue, with the ABS system not functioning and a lateral acceleration sensor fault detected. The problem may stem from a defective lateral acceleration sensor within the control unit. Suggested solutions include checking the wheel alignment and potentially replacing the control unit, which resolved the issue in a similar case.

Wheel alignment? I haven't. I was focusing more on the yaw rate sensor and traction control system since they're all interconnected. Is the wheel alignment really worth investigating before replacing the control unit?

In my case, the faulty reading was indeed caused by a defective lateral acceleration sensor inside the control unit. You could replace the sensor by yourself, but recalibration and coding is required. Replacing the control unit including the sensor is easier. It is likely to be the problem, so I recommend you take your car to a workshop to get it checked out. I wouldn't want you to risk your safety.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate you confirming my suspicions and the advice regarding the workshop. I ended up replacing the control unit and that resolved the issue, as you predicted. Total cost was around 1000€.

I had a similar issue with my Suburban. The lateral acceleration sensor can cause all sorts of ABS problems. Have you had your wheel alignment checked recently?
