Suburban Stalling Issue

I'm experiencing a starting problem and occasional stalling, particularly at idle, with my 2019 Chevrolet Suburban gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed rough engine running and higher fuel consumption with 201619 km. Scanning for error codes returned a fuel pump error. Could this be a faulty fuel pump, or a defective cable or plug connection?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is experiencing starting problems, occasional stalling at idle, rough engine running, and higher fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. An error code indicated a fuel pump issue, raising concerns about a faulty fuel pump or defective cable/plug connection. Suggestions included checking the fuel pump relay and filter, but a workshop diagnosis confirmed a defective cable/plug connection as the cause, leading to a repair.

Sounds familiar. I have a Suburban too. I had similar symptoms a while back: engine stalling, check engine light, the whole shebang. Did you check the fuel pump relay or the fuel filter? Those are usually the first things to check before assuming the pump itself is bad.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't checked the fuel pump relay or the fuel filter yet. Where exactly is the fuel pump relay located on the 2019 Suburban? Is it easy to access? And is there a straightforward way to test it?

Can't say exactly where it is on your 2019, check the owner's manual for the relay location, or look up a diagram online. Testing it usually involves swapping it with an identical relay or using a multimeter to check for continuity. But honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, plus your mileage, it might be a failing fuel pump. Could be wiring, sure, but those pumps do go bad. I'd advise getting it properly diagnosed at a shop.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to a trusted workshop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable / plug connection of the component. The final repair cost was 95€.
