Sunroof defective and warning light illuminated on Benz X Class 2017

Hey guys, my 2017 Benz X Class with a gasoline engine and just under 54500 km on the clock is making serious trouble. The convertible roof won't open or close and there's a warning light on the speedometer. My last visit to the mechanic was quite a nightmare, now I want to seek advice here before I go back to the garage. Could it be that the sunroof has not been programmed correctly? Have any of you had similar problems and/or know exactly what could have gone wrong? What experiences have you had with your mechanic repairing this problem? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, I can understand you very well. I had the same problem with my 2014 Benz X Class. I also drove myself crazy at the time and suspected that the sunroof wasn't properly taught, but that wasn't the case. It turned out that the coding needed to be done on the vehicle. The mechanic scanned and reprogrammed everything and after this process the sunroof worked perfectly again. It wasn't a pleasant start to the day, but on the whole it wasn't too serious a problem. Depending on how your vehicle is behaving, I would go to the garage and have it checked if I were you. It seems like Benz vehicles have little quirks like this from time to time. Hopefully this will help you!

Hey, thanks for the tip! I'm reassured to know that it could just be a coding issue. Do you happen to remember how much you forked out for the repair? And has anything else come up since then that might indicate that the problem wasn't finally fixed? I just want to make sure I don't get into unnecessary trouble with the repair shop if it's more than just a programming error. Thank you!

Hey, of course I remember that! It wasn't exactly a penny that I paid €75 to have the coding done on the vehicle. But since then, the sunroof has been running like clockwork, as far as I can tell. So it was definitely worth going to the mechanic. Nothing new has come up so far, and I'm pretty confident that the problem is finally solved for me. You'll just have to wait and see how it goes for you. But don't worry, the guys at the garage are usually quite good at dealing with such minor breakdowns. Good luck to you!

Hey, great, thanks for the quick help! That takes a bit of pressure off me. It's good to know that the €75 would probably be a good investment. I think I'll take your advice and take the car to the garage. Hopefully they'll have found and fixed the fault in no time at all. Thanks again for sharing your experience with me!
