Supra IV Defrost Flap Issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2023 Toyota Supra IV (gasoline engine). The defrost air distribution flap seems faulty. I'm getting an error stored, and the heating output is too low. I suspect it might be a cable or plug connection issue. Has anyone else experienced this? It's like trying to warm up a fridge with a candle!

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Toyota Supra IV is experiencing a defrost air distribution flap issue, resulting in low heating output and an error code. The problem is suspected to be related to a cable or plug connection. A similar case was resolved by fixing a loose connection related to the air distribution flap, suggesting that checking and securing these connections could be a viable solution.

Hey, I had something similar happen in my Supra IV, though I didn't get an error code. My heating was weak. Have you checked the blower motor fuse or looked for any obstructions in the air vents? Also, did you notice if it started happening after any recent work on the dashboard panel or climate control system?

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the blower motor fuse, and it seems fine. I haven't done any recent work on the dashboard. It's just gradually gotten worse over the last couple of weeks. What exactly was your problem, and how did you fix it? Was it also like breathing on an ice cube hoping it'd melt?

Yeah, mine was a similar gradual decline. I eventually took it to a workshop. They found a loose connection related to the air distribution flap, just like you suspected. They fixed the cable and re-seated the plug. It's been fine ever since. For me the air flow felt as weak as if someone was trying to inflate a tire by mouth.

Awesome, thanks for confirming! Sounds like I'm on the right track with the connection issue. I appreciate the advice, I'll take it to a workshop. They'll probably quote me about 95€ for this kind of repair but at least I know what to expect. Thanks again!
