Supra IV Fuel Consumption Hard Start

I've got a 2000 Toyota Supra IV, gasoline engine, and I'm running into an issue. The car's got 132902 km on it. Lately, I've noticed higher fuel consumption, and it's been a pain to start. Suspecting a defective throttle valve. I've been doing some digging, and it seems like a defective accelerator pedal module might be the culprit. Any thoughts?

I had a similar experience with my Supra IV. Were you able to check the air intake for any blockages? It is possible a dirty air filter can restrict airflow, causing the throttle body to work harder. It might be worth inspecting the throttle position sensor as well. Has the engine light come on at all, maybe indicating an issue with the car throttle?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check the air intake and the throttle position sensor. As for the engine light, it flickered a couple of times, but it's mostly off. Do you think the symptoms you experienced were similar (higher fuel consumption and hard start)? Did the engine light come on for you?

Yes, the symptoms were almost identical. Engine light was intermittent at first, then stayed on permanently. I highly recommend a professional diagnosis with specialized tools. While you can replace the accelerator pedal module yourself, it might be better to get to a workshop. It cost me around 205€.

Appreciate the confirmation. I'll take it to a trusted mechanic. Based on your feedback and the symptoms, it seems like replacing the accelerator pedal module could be the solution.
