Supra IV Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Toyota Supra IV is experiencing engine overheating and a persistent check engine light, with a suspected defective radiator fan. The problem may be linked to a faulty speed sensor, which can affect the cooling system's performance. A similar issue was resolved by addressing the cooling system, and professional inspection is recommended to diagnose and repair the electrical and temperature control components.

Yeah, there was quite a bit of noise coming from the fan motor recently. Did yours eventually fail completely? What did you do to fix it?

Yes, mine did eventually give out completely. Given all the symptoms, especially the constant overheating, it would be best to get it checked out by a professional. It ended up costing 250€ to repair. You’ll need professional tools to investigate the electrical and temperature control elements.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'll take it to a workshop this week. The issue was indeed the speed sensor, as suspected. Repair cost was almost exactly what you paid. Appreciate the help!

I have a Supra IV as well, and yes, I had a similar problem a while back. My engine was also overheating, and it turned out to be related to the cooling system. Was there fan noise before the fan became defective?
