Supra Knock Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Toyota Supra IV was experiencing a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and rough idling, with error codes indicating a potential knock sensor issue. The sensor itself appeared fine, leading to suspicion of a faulty cable or plug connection. Upon further inspection, a corroded connector in the wiring harness was identified and cleaned, resolving the problem and restoring the vehicle's performance.

Good call on the wiring harness! I'll give it another once-over. When you had this issue, did it also affect your ignition timing or cause any noticeable engine knock beyond the rough idle? I'm trying to narrow down if it's definitely the knock sensor circuit before I throw parts at it.

Yeah, the timing felt off, like the engine was holding back. Honestly, I didn't dig too deep myself. After poking around for a bit, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quick.

Appreciate the insight. I double-checked the harness, and you were right, the connector was corroded. Cleaned it up, and the light's gone! Runs like a dream now. Cost me 95€ for the connector cleaning. Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my Supra, although I didn't check the sensor itself. I was getting the check engine light and some funky idling. Have you checked the wiring harness for any obvious damage? Maybe a critter had a snack?
