SupraIV rough running and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Toyota SupraIV with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running, stalling, and a check engine light, possibly due to a defective ignition coil. The initial inspection of cables and plug connections showed no issues, but the problem persisted. A suggestion to check the coil pack and spark plugs led to the discovery of a defective ignition coil and faulty wiring, which were repaired, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I gave the spark plugs a look-over, and they seemed alright at first glance. But, now that you mention the coil pack, is there a specific way to test it or something? I'm not really a mechanic, so I'm not super familiar with vehicle diagnostics.

Honestly, I'm no expert either. When mine started acting up, I took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was the coil pack. Saved me a lot of headache trying to figure it out myself.

Appreciate the advice! I think I'll follow your lead and bring it in. Turns out you were right, it was a defective ignition coil, and faulty wiring! Cost me 95€, but at least it's running smoothly again.

I had a similar issue with my SupraIV. Rough running and stalling sounds familiar. Have you checked the coil pack and spark plugs?
