SupraIV temperature issues defective fuse

I've visually checked the grille for obstructions, nothing obvious. As for idling, I haven't let it run for too long fearing overheating. Should I risk it to see if the fan kicks in?

Okay, If the grille's clear, and you're hesitant to run it too long, given the check engine light and inaccurate readings I'd be wary too. The risk of actual overheating is there. Given your symptoms – temp gauge, light, warm-up time – and the possibility of a restricted cooling system, it really does sound like a component of the cooling system is failing or needs inspection. I'd advise getting it checked out by a workshop before you risk causing more damage.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a local mechanic, and turns out it was indeed a defective fuse related to the cooling system. They replaced it. All issues are gone and the repair cost me 52€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds frustrating! That combination of symptoms definitely points towards a thermal management problem. Have you checked the radiator grille itself for any obvious obstructions? Leaves, plastic bags, anything like that? The temp gauge issue and slow warm-up could be due to the engine not getting enough airflow. A faulty sensor is also a plausible reason. What happens if you let the car idle for a long time, does the temperature on the display continue to rise and/or does the radiator fan kick in?
