Suzuki Alto Turn Signal Malfunction, Repair Help Needed

My 2004 Suzuki Alto displays an error message on the dash and the turn signal is acting up. The car has 37529 km on the clock and runs on gasoline. After a recent visit to a mechanic that left me unsatisfied, I want to make sure I get this electrical fault fixed properly this time. The signal lamp seems to be the issue, but I want to be certain before going back to a shop. Has anyone encountered similar problems with their Suzuki? What was the actual cause and how much did the repair cost?

Had a similar situation with my 2007 Suzuki Swift. The turn signal started flashing irregularly and the indicator light on the dash was going crazy. After investigating, the problem turned out to be more than just a basic lamp replacement. The main issue was a damaged wire harness connector near the front fender, where water had caused corrosion in the turn signal wiring. The automotive lighting system in these Suzuki models from that era can be tricky, what looks like a broken lens or bulb issue often traces back to the wiring connections. The mechanic found multiple connection points that needed cleaning and resealing. Some connectors were completely corroded and required replacement. This type of electrical fault needs proper diagnosis with specialized equipment to trace the exact problem areas. In your case, before replacing any parts, have them check the wiring harness and connections first, particularly around the front fender area where water exposure is common. The repair took about 3 hours in total and it wasnt a quick fix, but the turn signal has worked flawlessly since then. For peace of mind, consider having all indicator light connections checked while theyre at it.

Thanks for sharing that experience with the Swift. I actually had very similar problems with my Alto last spring, dashboard errors and erratic turn signal behavior. The mechanic diagnosed a faulty wiring connection too, but in my case it was just behind the indicator light assembly. The bulb replacement itself was straightforward, but they found corrosion had spread to nearby connectors. Makes me wonder if this is a common weak point in these models. The turn signal works fine now, but I sometimes still notice slight flickering. Do you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing you? And has everything stayed working properly since the fix?

Glad to provide an update on my Swift repair. The faulty turn signal and wiring issues have been completely resolved since my last visit to the mechanic. The repair cost came to 95€ for fixing the cable and plug connections. This included cleaning out the corroded areas and replacing some damaged connectors. The turn indicator now works perfectly, no more flickering or dashboard warning lights. The mechanics confirmed this is a fairly common issue in these Suzuki models, especially around the turn signal lamp assembly. The irregular flashing you mentioned could indicate similar connection problems. Getting the wiring properly sealed against moisture is crucial to prevent the issue from recurring. Since having the indicator light system properly repaired, I have not experienced any electrical faults or signal problems. A proper fix from a qualified mechanic who knows these electrical systems is worth the investment to avoid ongoing issues. Based on your description of flickering, it might be worth having those connections checked again to ensure everything is properly sealed and protected from moisture.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to share how this all turned out. After reading about similar experiences, I took my Alto to a different mechanic who specialized in electrical systems. Turns out the flasher relay was failing, not just the connections. They also found some water damage around the turn signal assembly that needed addressing. The whole repair including parts and labor came to 180€. The mechanic did a thorough job sealing everything properly and replacing the corroded wiring. Been about 2 months now and the turn indicator works perfectly, no more dashboard errors or irregular flashing. For anyone else facing similar issues, definitely worth finding someone who really knows these electrical systems. The first shop missed the root cause by only checking the obvious parts. Having it properly diagnosed and fixed the second time around saved me from ongoing problems.
