Sylphy engine stalling

Hey, I'm having a really annoying problem with my 2006 Nissan Sylphy (gasoline engine). The check engine light keeps popping up, and the engine stalls sometimes when I'm idling. I've checked the gas cap to make sure it's on tight, but no luck. Could this be something to do with the emission system? I am not very familiar with these cars, so I'm quite stressed about this! Thanks in advance for any advice!

I had a similar issue with my Sylphy. The check engine light was on, and the engine would stall at red lights. After some investigation, and from a hazy memory of my dad tinkering with cars, it turned out to be a problem with the tank ventilation valve. Have you checked the hoses connected to it? They might be clogged.

Thanks! I hadn't considered the ventilation valve. Where exactly is it located, and is it something I can easily check myself? I don't want to mess anything up! Also, how long ago did you encounter this?

It's usually near the fuel tank, but the exact location can vary. Honestly, if you're not comfortable working on cars, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. It's possible the pressure sensor is also faulty, which would require specific tools to diagnose. It cost me 175€ at a workshop.

Okay, I understand. Thanks so much for the advice! I'll take it to a trusted mechanic; I feel much more confident knowing what the problem is likely to be and what the repair may cost. Turns out you were spot on with the ventilation valve! The hoses were clogged, just like you said. They cleaned it all up and the car runs like new. Thanks again!
