Sylphy seat heater failure

Hey, I've got a 2007 Nissan Sylphy with a gasoline engine, and the driver's side seat heater has completely died at 162186 km. The seat stays cold, and my mechanic says there's an error code related to it, mentioning the heating mat. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm dreading the repair bill!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Sylphy too, and I had a similar problem with my seat heater a while back. Same symptoms – cold seat, error code. From what I remember, the heating element itself is usually the issue. Before replacing the whole seat, did the mechanic check the wiring and the fuse?

Wiring and fuse? I don't know if he checked that specifically. He just plugged in his computer, saw the error, and said it's probably the heating mat. Could I check the wiring and fuse myself, or should I leave it to a professional?

Checking the fuse is easy – your owner's manual should show you where the fuse box is and which fuse controls the seat heater. Wiring is trickier; you'd need a multimeter to test for continuity. Honestly, based on my experience, it’s probably the heating mat itself. I ended up taking mine to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the mat. A bit of a pain, but at least it's fixed. I would recommend doing the same.

Okay, thanks a bunch for the advice! Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. My guy quoted me about 390€ to replace the heating mat, so I'm hoping that will sort it out. I'll post what happens!
