System Readiness Check Incomplete
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Ford Windstar displayed a 'System Readiness Check Incomplete' error on the speedometer after an OBD2 scanner was used during a vehicle inspection. This issue likely occurred because the car's computer hadn't fully reset after the diagnostics, interrupting the system's self-tests. The suggested solution was to visit an authorized workshop for a full diagnostic, where a computer reset resolved the issue without any cost.

Hmm, a reset issue? I'm not sure what tool they used during the diagnostic. Is there a way to fix the system readiness check?

Yes, it's a common issue. Sometimes, the OBD2 scanner can interrupt the car's self-tests. If the tests are not done properly or interrupted, the system cannot determine whether its components are functioning appropriately. In my case, I visited an authorized workshop to let them run a full diagnostic. They will know what to do.

Thanks for the info! I took it to my mechanic, and it turns out the system just needed a computer reset. All the emissions tests passed, and it didn't cost me a cent!

I had a similar issue with my Windstar! It sounds like your car's computer hasn't fully reset after the OBD2 diagnostics. The system readiness checks are basically emissions tests the car runs on itself. Which diagnostic tool was used? Perhaps, something went wrong during the test.
