T-Cross Sunshade Malfunction: Controls Frozen at 38k

Having issues with my T-Cross interior accessory, the car sunshade stopped working properly. It stays stuck in position and wont move when using controls. Already got an error message on the display. With 38297km on a 2022 gasoline model, this seems way too early for such problems. Looking for advice from anyone who dealt with similar sun blind issues, did you need full replacement or was there a simpler fix? My previous garage visit wasnt great, so wanting to know what to expect before taking it in.

Had the same sunshade repair issue on my 2019 T-Roc last summer. The sun blind motor failed completely, showing similar error messages and getting stuck mid-position. The main issue turned out to be the motor unit, which also controls the safety function that prevents the blind from closing if something is blocking its path. The sunshade control module needed full replacement as the internal gears were worn out. This was a serious repair requiring removal of the entire headliner to access the sunroof assembly. The car interior needed careful handling during repairs to avoid damaging the headliner material. The sun visor brackets also needed realignment after reassembly. Not a DIY-friendly repair due to the complex removal process and electrical connections. The failure at your mileage is unusual but not unheard of. Would recommend getting it diagnosed at an authorized service center since improper repair can lead to water leaks or safety system malfunctions. The sun blind mechanism is part of the safety system and needs proper calibration after repairs.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The dealer also initially tried suggesting a simple fix for my VW sun blind but ultimately had to replace the entire control module. Mine started acting up around 40000km with similar symptoms, and the UV protection mechanism was completely frozen. Cannot recall exactly but think repairs were somewhere between 400-600€. Just wondering, how has your car interior sunshade system been holding up since the fix? No recurring issues with the motor or controls? Really hoping to avoid multiple garage visits for the same problem.

Since having the sunshade repair done on my T-Roc, the UV protection system has worked flawlessly. The car blind operation is smooth, and the motor functions perfectly after the 330€ fix. They replaced the control module and recalibrated the entire mechanism in one visit. The sun protection system now responds instantly to controls without any sticking or error messages. Its been about 8 months of regular use, and the interior accessory performs like new. The repair cost was lower than expected since they only needed to replace the motor unit rather than the complete assembly. For anyone facing similar issues, getting it fixed properly the first time is crucial. A malfunctioning sunshade can lead to bigger problems if left unattended. The repair shop did thorough testing after installation to ensure all safety features were working correctly.

After checking other similar cases online, I finally took it to a different dealer last week. The window visor problems turned out exactly like yours, complete motor failure. Spent 450€ for the new control module plus labor. The technician actually showed me the worn-out parts and explained everything clearly, which was refreshing after my previous garage experience. The repair took about 4 hours while they removed the headliner to access the sun blind mechanism. They also did a full system check and recalibration. Now the car sunshade moves smoothly again, and all error messages are gone. The safety sensors are working properly too. Much better experience this time around. No more stuck positions or strange noises from the interior accessory. Hope it stays fixed, but good to know others had success with the repair.
