Thanks for sharing your experience with the transmission repair. Your situation sounds just like what happened with my T-Cross last month. The transmission temperature sensor was also the culprit in my case, causing similar problems with gear shifting and warning lights. Did the fixes hold up well since the repair? And would you mind sharing what the total cost was for all the work? I got quoted quite a steep price and wondering if it lines up with what others paid for similar transmission issues.

Happy to report my transmission repair has held up perfectly since getting it fixed. The transmission oil temperature sensor replacement resolved all shifting problems, and there have been no warning lights since. The transmission repair specialist also found low gearbox oil levels which needed addressing, a good catch that prevented potential major damage. The total cost came to 365€ which covered both the faulty sensor replacement and topping up the transmission oil to proper levels. The price included a full diagnostic scan and recalibration of the transmission control module. Based on the smooth operation over the past months, it was money well spent to protect the transmission from more serious issues. The transmission now shifts seamlessly between gears, and all those worrying symptoms like grinding noises and rough shifting have completely disappeared. Having a qualified transmission specialist handle the work made a big difference compared to my previous experiences with general mechanics.

After getting several recommendations, I finally took my T-Cross to a certified transmission specialist last week. The diagnosis confirmed the transmission temperature sensor was failing, along with low transmission fluid levels, exactly what others here experienced. The repair process was thorough. The mechanic replaced the faulty sensor, changed the transmission fluid, and performed a complete system diagnostic. Total cost came to 420€, which included parts and labor. While not cheap, it was worth every cent considering the risk of complete transmission failure. The difference is incredible, no more grinding noises or rough shifts. The warning lights are gone, and the automatic transmission works perfectly again. Definitely glad I chose a transmission specialist over my regular mechanic. Would highly recommend anyone with similar transmission issues to do the same rather than risk further damage.

Faced similar transmission issues on a VW Taigo (2022) last winter. The symptoms match exactly, rough gear shifting, grinding noise during acceleration, and transmission warning lights. The automatic transmission was indeed losing oil through a minor leak, causing insufficient lubrication. This triggered the transmission sensor to report incorrect temperature readings, forcing the car into limp mode as a safety measure. The repair involved: Complete transmission fluid level check, Replacement of the transmission temperature sensor, New transmission fluid filter, Replacement of worn transmission seals, Full system diagnostic scan, Transmission control module recalibration This was classified as a serious repair requiring immediate attention, as continued driving could have caused permanent transmission damage. The failing temperature sensor was masking the real issue of low transmission fluid, which could have led to complete transmission failure. After the repair, all transmission issues resolved completely, smooth gear shifting returned, warning lights cleared, and normal driving mode was restored. Would strongly suggest having it checked by a certified transmission repair specialist rather than a general mechanic, given the complexity of modern automatic transmission systems.
