T-Cross Washer Fluid Warning Persists Despite Full Tank

Has anyone encountered persistent washer fluid warnings despite a full tank in their 2019 T-Cross? My windshield washer system stopped working completely, and the dashboard light keeps showing low washer fluid even though I just topped it up. The car also stored an error code related to this. Currently considering taking it to a workshop but would appreciate hearing about similar experiences and potential fixes first. Did replacing the fluid level sensor solve the issue for anyone?

I had a similar issue with my 2017 T-Roc. As someone with some DIY car maintenance experience, I first thought it was just a simple washer fluid top-up needed, but the dashboard light stayed on even after refilling. The problem turned out to be a faulty washer fluid level sensor. The workshop found that debris had accumulated around the sensor, causing false readings. They cleaned the sensor area and verified the spray jets were working correctly. The total repair cost was 25€, which was quite reasonable. Before rushing to a repair shop, check these basic things: Verify if the spray jets are actually working when activated, Listen for the washer fluid pump sound when operating, Check for any visible leaks under the car, Make sure you are using the correct washer fluid type Could you share: Have you noticed any unusual sounds from the windshield cleaning system? Does the pump make any noise when you try to spray? What type of washer fluid are you using? Has the car been serviced recently? This information would help determine if you are dealing with the same sensor issue or potentially a different problem with the wiper system components.

Latest service was done at 55000km just last month. When activating the spray function, I hear a faint humming from the pump, but no fluid comes out of the spray jets. I am using a standard winter-grade washer fluid from a reputable brand. The noise sounds normal, just like before, but nothing happens when I pull the stalk. I checked underneath and found no obvious leaks or puddles. The wiper system worked perfectly until last week. I have already tried emptying and refilling the tank completely, but the warning light persists and no fluid reaches the windshield. Even after cycling the ignition several times, the error remains stored in the system.

Thanks for providing those details. Based on what you describe, this sounds very similar to what I experienced with my T-Roc. The symptoms match exactly, normal pump sound but no fluid output, despite a full tank. In my case, when the pump was making that humming noise but not delivering fluid, it turned out the issue was actually a clogged filter screen in the washer fluid reservoir. This can happen over time as debris accumulates, especially if the car sits outside frequently. A few things I checked before finding the actual problem: Inspected the spray jets for blockages, Verified all wiper system fuses were intact, Checked the fluid lines for any crimping or damage The filter screen cleaning resolved both the fluid flow and the persistent warning light issues. If you are comfortable doing some basic maintenance, you can access the filter by carefully removing the reservoir, but be prepared to catch any remaining wiper fluid that drains out. If the filter is not the culprit, the next most likely issue could be: A disconnected fluid line, A failing washer fluid pump, Blocked spray jets Given your car was just serviced, I would contact the service center as this issue might be related to recent work done on the windshield washer system.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After checking everything mentioned, I tracked down the actual problem. The filter screen was completely clogged with debris, just as suggested. I carefully removed the windshield washer fluid reservoir, cleaned the filter thoroughly, and reinstalled everything. The wiper system now works perfectly, fluid sprays normally and the warning light has finally disappeared. No more error codes either. Total cost was 0€ since I did the work myself, though it did take about an hour to complete. For anyone facing similar issues, definitely check the filter screen before replacing parts. The humming pump sound with no fluid output seems to be a classic symptom of this problem. Using quality washer fluid and regular system maintenance should help prevent this from happening again. Really appreciate all the guidance that helped me avoid an unnecessary workshop visit.
