T-Roc Airbag Warning: Rollover Sensor May Be Faulty

My T-Roc (2017) has been showing an airbag warning light in the instrument cluster, and scanning revealed error codes related to the SRS system. Based on initial research, I suspect a rollover sensor failure might be causing these warnings. The vehicle runs fine otherwise, but I am concerned about the safety implications. Has anyone dealt with a similar automotive sensor issue? Looking for guidance on typical repair costs and whether this requires immediate attention. Also interested in knowing if this is a common problem that others have experienced with their T-Rocs and what the repair process typically involves.

As someone with moderate experience working on VWs, I dealt with a very similar airbag system issue on my 2016 VW Golf. The symptoms were identical, airbag warning light and SRS system error codes, which turned out to be related to the vehicle safety system sensors. After thorough diagnostics, the workshop found a defective control unit affecting the rollover sensor and airbag sensor communication. The entire repair process took about 4 hours, with most time spent on testing the safety system after replacement. Total cost was 1000€ for parts and labor. The airbag warning light is definitely not something to ignore, as it indicates your vehicle safety systems might not function properly in case of an accident. These sensors are crucial components of the tilt sensor and crash detection system. To provide more specific guidance for your case, could you share: Exact error codes from the scan, Whether the warning light is constant or intermittent, If you notice any other electrical issues? Current mileage of your T-Roc? Any previous accident history? Having this information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my Golf and could point to whether its the same control unit failure.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. My T-Roc was last serviced 3 months ago at 42778km and the warning light started appearing consistently about 2 weeks ago. The main error code showing is B100513 which the scanner indicates is related to the rollover sensor circuit. The warning light stays on constantly now, though it initially flickered on and off. No other electrical issues are present and the car has never been in an accident. The 1000€ repair cost you mentioned seems steep, wondering if there might be any other solutions before replacing the entire sensor unit. Could a simple recalibration of the automotive sensor system potentially resolve this?

Thanks for providing those details. The B100513 code in your T-Roc matches exactly what I encountered with my Golf before replacing the unit. Given the similar mileage and symptoms (constant warning light that started intermittently), it strongly suggests the same SRS sensor module failure. While recalibration might seem like a cost-effective solution, my experience showed that when the rollover sensor circuit throws this specific error code, its typically indicating internal component failure rather than just calibration drift. I initially hoped for a simpler fix with my Golf too, but the airbag sensor system requires complete reliability for safety. The 1000€ price tag does seem high, but its primarily due to the complexity of the safety system and the extensive testing required. After my repair, I learned that the tilt sensor and rollover sensor are integrated into one module, which is why they usually need complete replacement rather than individual component repair. To confirm your concern though, I did try recalibration first on my Golf, but the warning light returned within days. This actually ended up adding to the total cost rather than saving money. Would strongly recommend addressing the automotive sensor issue directly with a proper replacement to ensure your safety systems remain fully functional.

Thank you for all the detailed information shared. After considering the error code B100513 and comparing it with your experience, I understand this is likely a serious SRS sensor issue that needs proper attention. The constant warning light matching your Golf's symptoms is quite concerning. While the 1000€ cost is significant, I realize now that attempting cheaper fixes like recalibration might be wasteful since the rollover sensor appears to have an internal failure. The vehicle safety system isnt something to compromise on, especially given how critical these tilt sensor components are during accidents. I will schedule a repair appointment this week to have the complete safety system module replaced. Better to address it properly now than risk having non-functional airbag sensors in an emergency. Really appreciate you sharing your repair experience, it helped clarify that this isnt a problem to postpone or try quick fixes on. Would you mind sharing which brand of replacement unit was used in your repair? Ill ask my mechanic about using the same one since it seems to have worked well in your case.
