T-Roc Central Locking System Dead, Lock Sensor Issue

Had my last service at 18147km a few weeks ago with no issues reported. Following up on the responses, yes, I hear faint clicking when using the key fob, but only from the driver side door. The passenger doors show no response at all. The wiring harness suggestion makes sense since the problem started gradually over a few weeks. The door latch on the driver side occasionally makes an unusual sound when opening manually. This seems related to the door sensor issues others mentioned. Thinking about getting it checked soon, though wondering if I should wait for my next scheduled maintenance to save on diagnostic fees.

This definitely sounds similar to what I experienced with my Golf. The gradual onset of problems and the clicking sound from only one door strongly points to a wiring harness issue, just like my case. The unusual sound from your door latch combined with the selective door response suggests the problem might be more extensive than my initial repair. When my issues started, I also had that weird noise from the door latch before the complete failure of the system. I would not recommend waiting for scheduled maintenance. In my experience, faulty door contact signals can lead to more serious issues with the car alarm system if left unaddressed. After my initial hesitation to get it fixed, I ended up with unusual alarm triggers and complete failure of the central locking. The repair cost might be higher than my 95€ case since you are likely dealing with multiple connection points in the wiring harness. However, delaying the repair could result in more extensive damage to the door switch and locking mechanisms, potentially doubling the repair costs. Based on the symptoms you described, focusing on the driver side door connections would be the logical starting point for repairs, as this is where the main door switch and primary wiring harness components are typically located.

Thanks for the details on your experience. I just wanted to confirm I called the dealer and booked it in for next week. You are right about not waiting, the car alarm went off twice today while parked, so clearly the door sensor problems are getting worse. The service advisor mentioned they will need to do a full diagnostic scan but agreed the door switch and wiring harness are likely culprits based on the symptoms. The clicking sound from the driver door has also gotten more pronounced since my last post. Will update once they identify the exact electrical issue and complete the repairs. At least the 95€ repair cost you mentioned gives me a rough baseline, even if mine ends up being more extensive due to multiple door contact signal problems. Better to fix it properly now than risk more components failing.

I had a similar issue with my 2015 VW Golf, and being someone with basic experience working on cars, I first tried troubleshooting it myself but eventually needed professional help. The main problem was traced to a faulty door switch and compromised wiring connections affecting the door contact signal. The electrical issue was causing problems with both the central locking system and the alarm, just like your situation. My workshop discovered the cable connection to the door sensor was damaged, likely from regular door movement over time. The complete repair, including diagnostics and parts replacement, cost 95€. Since the fix, the system has worked flawlessly. Before suggesting specific solutions, it would help to know: Have you noticed any clicking sounds when using the key fob? Does the problem affect all vehicle doors equally? Are there any other electrical functions not working properly? Did this issue start suddenly or develop gradually? The T-Roc shares many electrical components with other VW models, but the exact repair procedure might differ depending on your specific build version and trim level.
