T-Roc Keyless Entry Dead: Door Sensor Failure Fix Needed

Having real trouble with my T-Roc 2020. Keyless entry stopped working completely, and the car is showing a door electronics error code. Door mechanism itself seems fine, but sensors are not responding. Getting nervous about repair costs after a previous bad mechanic experience. Car has about 148000km on the clock and runs on gas. Anyone dealt with similar door sensor issues on their T-Roc? Would be great to hear what repairs were needed and rough costs before I head to a workshop.

Had the same door sensor issue on my VW Tiguan 2017. Started with intermittent keyless entry failures before the system stopped responding completely. A diagnostic scan revealed a faulty door actuator and corroded wiring connections near the door switch. The main repair involved replacing the door actuator assembly and rewiring the door sensor connections. The wiring fault was causing communication errors between the door module and the central locking system. Water had gotten into the door wiring harness, leading to corrosion of several connection points. Not a particularly complex repair for an experienced mechanic, but requires proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact issue. The door switch and actuator assembly needed complete replacement rather than just a simple fix. The car never had any related issues after the repair. Would recommend getting it checked soon though, as faulty door electronics can potentially affect other vehicle systems if left unaddressed. A VW specialist should be able to properly diagnose and fix this within a standard service appointment. Being a common issue on VW models, most workshops will be familiar with the repair procedure.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the door sensor issue. Your situation sounds very similar to what I am experiencing with my T-Roc. The wiring fault and door actuator problems you described match my symptoms exactly. Could you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other electric door problems coming up? Would really help to know what kind of costs I should expect before booking it in.

Happy to update on the repair costs. The door handle electronics fault turned out to be much simpler than expected. Rather than needing a full door actuator replacement like initially thought, the mechanic found a loose cable connection that was causing the wiring fault. The total repair came to 95€, which covered diagnostic testing and fixing the faulty connection. Since having it repaired three months ago, the door switch and keyless entry have worked flawlessly. No more error codes or issues with the door electronics. For your T-Roc, I would suggest getting it checked soon as these door system problems can worsen if left unfixed. While my repair was straightforward, costs can vary depending on whether the door actuator needs replacement or if its just a wiring connection issue like mine was.

Thanks for the advice. Took my T-Roc to the mechanic yesterday and got it sorted. The fault was actually quite similar, they found water damage had corroded some connections in the door electronics system. The repair ended up costing 280€ total, which included replacing part of the wiring harness and door switch assembly. More than expected but less than I feared after some horror stories. The car locking system is now working perfectly again. The mechanic showed me where water had gotten in through a damaged door seal, which they also replaced to prevent future issues. Really glad I got it checked when I did, as they mentioned the corrosion could have spread to other electronics if left longer. Much better experience than my last garage visit and good to know others have dealt with similar door sensor problems. Will definitely keep an eye on those door seals from now on.
