T-Roc Mirror Heating Failure: Both Sides Dead

Thanks for sharing your experience with the mirror heating problem. My VW T-Roc had almost identical symptoms last month with the car electronics failing in both mirrors. The repair worked perfectly and I have not had any temperature control issues since. The rearview mirror system is working flawlessly now, but I am curious about your repair costs. How much did you end up paying for the electrical fault fix? Also, have you noticed any other electrical issues coming up after getting it repaired?

Glad to hear your T-Roc mirror heating is working properly now. My repair costs were similar, I paid 95€ to fix the faulty cable connection in the mirror heating system. The vehicle safety inspection showed it was just a worn connector causing the electrical fault, nothing more serious. Since the repair last winter, all car electronics have worked perfectly, including both mirror heater elements during cold weather. No additional electrical issues have surfaced. The fix was straightforward once the mechanic identified the exact connection point that was causing problems. For others reading, these mirror heating faults often stem from simple wiring issues rather than complete heater element failure. Getting a proper diagnostic can save money versus assuming the worst and replacing entire mirror assemblies.

Thanks for the helpful input. I took my T-Roc to a certified mechanic last week who diagnosed the electrical fault in the mirror heating system. The issue turned out to be a damaged wire connector near the door hinge, very similar to what others described. The total repair cost came to 120€ which included replacing the worn wiring harness and testing the car electronics. The rearview mirror heating now works perfectly on both sides. No error codes since the fix. What surprised me was how quickly they identified and fixed the problem, just 2 hours of labor. Much better experience than my previous mechanic who wanted to do a complete mirror replacement for triple the cost. Will definitely keep an eye on the wiring connections during future services to catch any early signs of wear. Really relieved to have proper mirror heating again before the cold weather hits.

I experienced a similar mirror heating issue on my 2019 VW Tiguan last winter. The temperature control system showed the same symptoms, complete failure of the heater element in both mirrors during cold weather. The diagnostic revealed a damaged wire harness connector where the door meets the frame. The constant opening and closing of doors had worn through the protective sleeve, causing an electrical fault affecting both mirrors. The repair involved replacing the entire wire harness assembly and testing all connections. This turned out to be a relatively common issue that requires professional attention since it involves dismantling the door panels and working with the electrical system. The repair was significant but not among the most serious electrical issues possible. The main warning signs matched yours, both mirrors stopped responding simultaneously and threw an error code. If your wiring shows similar wear patterns, consider having a full electrical diagnostic done, as these issues can sometimes indicate broader electrical system vulnerabilities. Worth noting that driving without functioning mirror heaters in cold weather conditions can create serious visibility issues. Getting it fixed before winter is advisable.
