T-Roc Oil Pressure Warning Linked to Faulty Temp Sensor

Thanks for the detailed reply. My T-Roc has 18482km on the clock and just had its annual service last month. The warnings started appearing about 2 weeks ago, initially only when the engine was fully warm. Now they pop up more frequently, even during cold starts. The car diagnostics at my local shop pointed toward the oil sensor circuit, but they want to run more extensive tests. The oil pressure warnings seem to fluctuate, which matches your experience with a loose connection. No other work was done recently besides the regular service. Interesting point about the connector deterioration, I will definitely have them check the wiring and connections around the temperature sensor area first before replacing any parts.

Thanks for providing those details about your T-Roc. The symptoms you describe with increasing frequency of warnings, especially now during cold starts, strongly align with what I experienced. On my T-Cross, the intermittent nature of the warnings was a clear indicator of an electrical connection issue rather than a failing sensor unit. Given your low mileage and recent service, the car diagnostics pointing to the sensor circuit makes perfect sense. The fluctuating oil pressure warnings are particularly telling, this matches exactly how my issue manifested before the repair. While my repair cost was 95€, your case might even be simpler since the issue has been caught early. During my repair, the workshop found slight corrosion on the temperature sensor connector pins, which required extra cleaning. A thorough inspection of the engine temperature sensor wiring harness revealed a small break in the insulation that needed addressing. One key point: if your workshop suggests replacing the entire oil temperature sensor without first checking connections, request they perform a thorough wire continuity test. In many cases, the car sensor itself works perfectly, its just the electrical connection causing false readings.

Exactly what I needed to hear, confirms what I was suspecting about electrical connections being the likely culprit. My workshop is quoting 180€ for full temp sensor replacement, but based on your experience, I will insist they first check the wiring and connections thoroughly. Makes perfect sense that intermittent warnings point to connection issues rather than a completely failed sensor. Getting it looked at tomorrow and will specifically ask them to: Check connector pins for corrosion, Test wire continuity around the oil temperature sensor, Inspect the wiring harness for any insulation damage, Verify all sensor connections are properly secured Really helpful to know your repair was successful without needing a full sensor replacement. Will update them about wanting these checks done before agreeing to any parts replacement. The car diagnostics they already ran showing sensor circuit issues matches your experience too. Thanks for saving me potentially unnecessary repairs.

Having dealt with a similar issue on my 2019 T-Cross gasoline, I can share some relevant experience. The car temperature sensor warnings started showing up out of nowhere, leading to similar oil pressure warnings in the dashboard. After checking multiple car sensor readings, my workshop found the issue was actually quite simple: a loose connector at the temperature sensor plug. The connection had deteriorated over time, causing intermittent false readings. The car diagnostics showed error codes related to the engine temperature sensor circuit. The fix involved cleaning the connector, replacing a damaged wire, and properly securing the temp sensor connection. Total cost was 95€ including diagnostics and labor. Since then, no more warning lights or error codes. For your specific case, could you share: Current mileage, How long the warning has been appearing, Whether the warnings come up when the engine is cold or at operating temperature, Any recent maintenance or repair work This information would help determine if you are dealing with a similar connection issue or if there might be other factors involved.
