Thanks for sharing your experience. Your symptoms matched mine perfectly, especially the limp mode and engine idling issues. Good to know about the throttle body sensor being the culprit. Can you remember roughly what you paid for the full repair? Also wondering if youve had any other issues with the throttle or air flow since getting it fixed? My local VW service quoted me a pretty high price and Id like to compare. The fuel efficiency has really taken a hit since this started so Im keen to get it sorted properly the first time.

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. After getting it properly fixed at the dealer for 265€, which covered replacing the faulty accelerator pedal module electronics, the throttle sensor issues completely resolved. The engine idling returned to normal and limp mode never activated again. The air flow and throttle response are now perfect, exactly how a new car should perform. Fuel efficiency went right back to normal levels too. Really worth getting the proper fix rather than trying temporary solutions. For what its worth, unlike some repairs where problems can resurface, this fix has been lasting. The check engine light hasnt come back on and the car runs like new. With these electronic throttle components, once theyre replaced properly, they tend to stay reliable. The price you were quoted does sound high compared to what I paid, but costs can vary based on exactly which components need replacement. Getting the correct diagnosis is crucial since these symptoms can sometimes be confused with other air flow issues.

Appreciate all the helpful replies. Just wanted to update how things turned out. Finally got my T-Roc fixed last week and wanted to share my experience in case someone else runs into similar issues. Found a certified shop specializing in VW electronics. They ran a complete diagnostic and confirmed the throttle body sensor failure. The final repair cost came to 290€ including parts and labor, much better than the original quote from the dealer. The response delay and engine idling problems cleared up immediately after the fix. Fuel efficiency is back to normal and no more sudden power loss or limp mode issues. The check engine light hasnt come back on either. One tip from my experience: the mechanic showed me the worn electrical contacts in the old throttle body unit. Getting this fixed quickly probably prevented more serious engine problems down the line. Really glad to have this sorted properly. The car runs perfectly now, feels just like when it was new.

Had a similar situation with my Golf GTI (2019). The symptoms matched exactly, sudden power loss, check engine light, and the car went into limp mode during highway driving. The throttle sensor was sending incorrect signals to the ECU, causing the throttle body to misread air intake measurements. This triggered the engine management system to reduce power as a safety measure. The repair involved replacing the complete throttle body assembly as the electronic components inside were defective. This was actually a serious issue since the throttle body controls fuel efficiency and engine performance. The faulty unit could have caused complete engine shutdown if left unaddressed. Key signs it was the throttle body: Sudden power loss, Irregular idle, Check engine light, Hesitation during acceleration, Limp mode activation Worth noting that cleaning the throttle body rarely fixes electronic failures, when the internal sensors go bad, full replacement is typically needed. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest similar electronic throttle control issues. A proper diagnosis using an OBD scanner should confirm if your T-Roc has the same throttle body malfunction.
