T-Roc SRS Warning Light: Common Causes & Solutions

I have a 2017 T-Roc with a persistent SRS light issue in the instrument cluster. The restraint system warning appeared suddenly while driving and stays illuminated. The car runs fine otherwise, but I am concerned about the vehicle safety implications. Has anyone dealt with a similar airbag system problem? Would like to know what the common causes are and what repairs were needed to resolve it. Particularly interested in hearing about diagnostic results and repair costs from those who have had this fixed at a workshop.

I dealt with a very similar airbag sensor issue on my 2019 T-Cross. Being someone with moderate experience in car maintenance, I initially got concerned about the automotive safety implications when the SRS warning light came on. After bringing it to the workshop, their diagnostic scan revealed a faulty connection in the airbag sensor wiring harness under the driver seat. The crash sensor system was functioning, but the connection issue was triggering the warning light. The total repair cost was 95€, which covered the diagnostic work and fixing the cable connection. The airbag deployment system is a critical vehicle safety component, so its best not to drive extensively with an active SRS warning. In your case, since its a 2017 T-Roc, there could be similar wiring issues, but it would be helpful to know: Did the light come on gradually or suddenly? Have you had any recent work done near the seats or center console? Does the warning light ever go off, or is it constant? Have you noticed any other electrical issues? This information would help determine if youre dealing with a similar connection problem or if its potentially a different airbag system component.

My vehicle had its last service at 91000km and the mechanic did mention checking all restraint system components during the inspection. After seeing your reply, I checked my service records and found there was indeed some work done around the driver seat area during the previous oil change. The SRS light appeared quite suddenly during normal driving about 2 weeks after that service. The warning has been constant since then. No other electrical issues so far. Based on your experience, this does sound similar to the wiring connection problem you described. Will schedule a diagnostic check to inspect the airbag sensor wiring harness, hoping its just a loose connection rather than needing a full sensor replacement. Just curious, did your mechanic mention this being a common issue with our model line? Wondering if there might be an airbag recall I should know about.

From my T-Cross experience, wiring harness issues are relatively common among these models, especially after any work involving seat removal or adjustment. My mechanic mentioned seeing similar SRS light triggers in several vehicles from this line. Regarding airbag recalls, its worth checking current automotive safety bulletins. While no widespread airbag recall exists for these specific models, the restraint system wiring vulnerability near the seats is a known service point. The timing of your SRS light appearing after the service work strongly suggests a connection issue similar to what I experienced. In my case, the wiring problem was aggravated by normal seat movement over time, but the previous service likely contributed to loosening the connection. A quick tip from my repair experience: ask the workshop to thoroughly inspect all airbag sensor mounting points and wiring clips during the diagnostic. Sometimes these small retaining clips get damaged during routine service, leading to intermittent connection issues that eventually trigger the SRS light. If the diagnosis confirms a wiring harness problem like mine, the repair should be relatively straightforward and cost-effective. The important thing is addressing it promptly to ensure your vehicle safety systems remain fully functional.

Thanks for sharing those details about your experience with the harness repair. The fact that the SRS light appeared shortly after service work definitely points to a potential connection issue. I appreciate the information about checking mounting points and clips, that makes a lot of sense given the timing. I just contacted my dealer service department to book a diagnostic check for next week. They noted my concern about the work done near the driver seat during the last service potentially affecting the restraint system wiring. Ill ask them specifically to inspect all the sensor mounting points and wiring clips as you suggested. Really hoping its just a loose connection that can be fixed without major component replacement. The 95€ repair cost you mentioned gives me a good reference point for what to expect if its a similar issue. Ill update once I get the diagnostic results. Its reassuring to know this seems to be a known service point rather than a more serious airbag deployment system problem. Thanks again for the detailed insights about your repair experience.
