T-Roc transmission warning needs urgent diagnosis

Thanks for sharing your experience with the GTI. The voltage issue sounds very similar to what I am experiencing with my T-Roc. Did you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing? I just scheduled a check at a transmission specialist since the automatic gearbox is still acting up despite the recent oil replacement. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered additional problems after fixing the initial voltage issue? My transmission warning light occasionally still flickers even after resetting it.

Had the same voltage issue fixed on my GTI last month. The transmission problems cleared up completely after addressing the undervoltage, no more warning lights or irregular shifting patterns in the automatic gearbox. The total repair came to 240€, which covered the diagnostic testing and voltage regulator replacement. The mechanic also checked the transmission oil levels since it was acting similar to worn hydraulic fluid symptoms, but the fluid was actually fine. The flickering warning light you mentioned is concerning though, that was not my experience after the repair. A proper fix should completely resolve the transmission control module issues. If your light is still active after resetting, I would suggest having them specifically check the wiring connections to the transmission sensors. Sometimes loose connections can mimic undervoltage symptoms. Worth mentioning that driving with an intermittent warning light risks damaging the automatic transmission components. Best to get it thoroughly checked while the repair costs are still manageable.

After dealing with the irregular shifting and warning lights for a week, I finally took my T-Roc to a transmission specialist. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed a voltage issue affecting the automatic transmission control module, just like you experienced. The diagnostic testing revealed a failing voltage regulator causing inconsistent power supply to the transmission. They replaced the regulator and checked all wiring connections to the transmission sensors. Including labor, parts, and testing, the total repair cost came to 280€. The transmission performance improved immediately after the fix. The automatic gearbox now shifts smoothly again and the warning light has stayed off. Really glad I caught this early before it caused permanent damage to the transmission. Just wanted to update and thank everyone for the helpful advice. Would have likely spent more time and money at a general repair shop without the specific guidance about checking the voltage system first.

Having experienced similar issues with a 2014 VW Golf GTI, the symptoms you describe strongly point to transmission control module problems caused by undervoltage. The slipping transmission and emergency mode are typical warning signs when the transmission control unit receives inconsistent voltage. In my case, the automatic transmission started showing irregular shift patterns before going into limp mode. This requires professional diagnostic testing, as the problem could stem from: Faulty voltage regulator, Damaged wiring harness, Transmission control module failure, Deteriorated transmission fluid affecting sensors While old transmission oil can cause issues, the warning light and emergency mode suggest an electrical problem. The transmission performance usually recovers immediately after fixing the voltage supply. The repair involves: 1. Full diagnostic scan 2. Testing the voltage regulator 3. Checking transmission fluid condition 4. Inspecting wiring connections 5. Possibly replacing control module This is considered a serious issue that needs prompt attention to prevent permanent transmission damage. Continuing to drive in emergency mode risks further complications with the automatic transmission system. Recommendation: Have it diagnosed at a shop with proper VW diagnostic equipment. Request they check both electrical and hydraulic fluid systems, as they work together in modern transmissions.
