T-Roc Washer Fluid Warning Persists Despite Full Tank

Having issues with my 2019 T-Roc where the windshield washer system stopped working completely. The warning light for low washer fluid keeps showing up on the dashboard even though the reservoir is full. I checked the error memory and there are some stored codes. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their wiper fluid system? Particularly interested in what the repair shop found and how they resolved it. Currently unsure if this is just a sensor issue or something more serious with the pump system. Any guidance would be appreciated.

As someone with some hands-on experience maintaining VWs, I had a similar issue with my 2017 VW Golf with the windshield washer system. The symptoms were nearly identical to what you're describing. After seeing the persistent low washer fluid warning despite a full reservoir, I found the windshield washer pump was not activating properly. The repair shop discovered that debris had gotten into the washer fluid tank, partially blocking the sensor. They cleaned the windshield washer system, verified the spray jets were clear, and tested the washer motor functionality. The total repair cost was 25€, which covered the system cleaning and diagnostic check. It turned out to be a relatively simple fix, but it's important to address these issues promptly to prevent potential damage to the washer motor. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you provide: Have you noticed any unusual sounds when trying to activate the washers? Did this issue start suddenly or develop gradually? Are your wiper fluid spray patterns normal when the system does work? Can you hear the washer motor running when activated? This information would help determine if you're dealing with a similar sensor issue or potentially a different problem with your T-Roc's washer system.

Thanks for the feedback. Just had my service done last week at 28498km. The washer motor makes no sound when activated, and this happened quite suddenly after a cold spell. I cannot hear any pump activation when pressing the washer stalk. The warning light on the dashboard started appearing right after that. The wiper fluid spray patterns were working perfectly normal before this complete failure. I checked all windshield cleaning nozzles and they appear clear with no visible blockage. I will note that the warning light for low wiper fluid stays on constantly now, regardless of the fluid level. Could someone help narrow down if this is more likely a pump failure or an electrical issue? Want to have some idea before taking it to the shop.

Thanks for providing those additional details about the washer system issues. Based on your description, especially the complete silence from the washer motor when activated, this sounds very similar to what happened with my Golf before the final failure. The constant low washer fluid warning combined with no pump activation strongly suggests either an electrical issue or a failed washer motor, rather than a blockage. In my case, the washer motor had failed completely, likely due to freezing conditions similar to what you experienced. Key indicators pointing to a motor/electrical issue: No sound from the windshield washer pump, Sudden failure after cold weather, Persistent warning light regardless of fluid level, Complete system failure rather than degraded performance The repair shop might need to: 1. Test the washer motor electrical connections 2. Check the pump assembly 3. Scan for specific error codes related to the washer system 4. Verify if the freeze-up caused internal damage When my washer motor failed, the replacement and labor came to about 180€. The repair shop also recommended using winter-grade washer fluid during cold months to prevent future freeze damage to the spray jets and pump components.

Thank you everyone for the input. I took my T-Roc to the shop yesterday and wanted to share what they found in case others run into similar issues with their wiper system. The diagnosis confirmed a failed washer motor, likely caused by that cold spell. The warning light problem was tied to a faulty electrical connection that developed when the motor failed. The repair shop replaced the entire pump assembly and fixed the wiring connection to the fluid level sensor. Total repair cost was 195€ including parts and labor. They also flushed the windshield washer system completely and verified all spray jets were functioning correctly. Everything is working perfectly now, no more warning light and the wipers spray as they should. For anyone facing similar symptoms: if your washer motor goes completely silent and you get constant fluid warnings, its likely the pump assembly rather than just a sensor issue. The repair was straightforward once they identified the root cause. Special thanks to those who suggested checking for cold weather damage. Will definitely be using winter-grade fluid going forward to protect the system.
