T-Roc Washer Pump Issues: No Fluid Despite Full Tank

My T-Roc from 2018 has suddenly stopped spraying washer fluid on the windshield. I noticed the washer pump makes a sound but no fluid comes out. The headlight cleaning system also shows a fault message occasionally. Already checked the fluid level which is fine. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Specifically interested in what parts needed replacement and the usual repair costs involved. Would really appreciate details on common leak points or system failures others have experienced and how their workshop resolved it.

As someone with moderate DIY car repair experience, I had a nearly identical issue with my 2020 T-Cross. The symptoms were exactly the same, pump noise but no washer fluid and intermittent headlight cleaning system errors. After taking it to the workshop, they found the electrical connection to the washer pump had corroded, causing unreliable operation. The hose system itself was intact, but the pump wasnt getting consistent power due to damaged wiring. They replaced the cable connection and cleaned the entire pump assembly, which resolved both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning system faults. The total repair cost was 165€, including diagnostics and parts. Since then, the system has worked flawlessly. Could you check if your washer fluid comes out at all? Even weakly? Also, can you hear the pump running consistently or does it make different sounds each time? These details would help determine if youre facing the same electrical issue. To properly diagnose this, it would be helpful to know: Exact engine variant, Current mileage, When the problem first started, Whether the issue occurs more in wet/cold conditions

Thanks for your detailed response. Just had my 20000km service done last month at 24250km so this is quite frustrating. The pump sound is consistent each time, but no fluid comes out at all, not even a weak spray. The headlight cleaning system malfunction warning appears roughly every third start. The washer fluid tank shows no visible leaks but I noticed some moisture around the pump area this morning. Starting to think its either a clogged line or faulty pump since the sound seems normal but no output. 165€ seems reasonable if its just the wiring. Hope its not the xenon headlight washer system, heard those repairs can get expensive.

Thanks for the additional details. Based on what you describe, your issue sounds different from my electrical fault since you have a consistent pump sound. The moisture around the pump area is a key indicator. In my case, the washer pump sound was irregular and would sometimes not activate at all before the repair. With yours consistently pumping but no output, plus visible moisture, this points more toward a mechanical pump failure or blocked line. The xenon headlight cleaning system fault message is likely a secondary effect, these systems use the same pump and fluid reservoir. When I had mine fixed, the technician explained that the headlight cleaners often trigger warnings first due to their higher pressure requirements. For your symptoms, expect repair costs around 220-280€ if its the pump unit itself, rather than just corroded wiring like in my case. The good news is that pump replacement is a straightforward repair that should fully resolve both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning system faults. Since youre at 24250km, its still relatively low mileage for pump failure, so definitely worth having the workshop check if its covered under warranty.

Based on all mentioned symptoms, Im pretty convinced now its the pump that needs replacement. The consistent sound but no output, plus moisture around the pump, really points to a mechanical failure rather than an electrical issue. Called my usual workshop and booked it in for next week. They said the xenon headlight washer system malfunction message is a typical indicator when the main washer pump starts failing, since it needs more pressure than the windshield spray. Good to know the repair costs range between 220-280€. Was worried it might be much more expensive when the headlight system warning first appeared. Will update once its fixed in case anyone else runs into similar washer system problems with their car. For now, Ive topped up the washer fluid just to be safe, but no change in symptoms, pump sound continues normally but still zero spray output and that moisture leak remains visible around the pump area. Hoping the 24250km reading works in my favor for any warranty coverage.
