Tacoma Active Hood Fault

I'm having an issue with my 2023 Toyota Tacoma hybrid. At 97558 km, the computer displays an "Active hood fault" message, and the airbag light is always on. The code reader shows an error, and the active hood spring actuators seem triggered. Could this be a faulty sensor or electronics issue? Maybe a defective impact sensor or something with the hood latch and collision detection system?

I had something similar on my Tacoma. I'd bet it's the acceleration sensor. Check that first.

When you say 'acceleration sensor,' are we talking about the one related to the SRS? Was your active hood actually deploying, or were you just getting the error and the light, as well?

Yep, the SRS one. Mine was throwing the same errors, and the dealer confirmed it was the sensor. The hood hadn't actually popped, thank goodness! Definitely take it to a trustworthy workshop; it's tricky stuff messing with the airbag system. Cost me around 315€ to get it sorted, parts and labor.

Okay, that's incredibly helpful. Knowing someone else has experienced the identical problem and that it's likely a defective acceleration sensor gives me a solid starting point. A trip to the workshop is definitely in order! I really appreciate you sharing your experience and the eventual repair cost; this really helped me. Many thanks!
