Tacoma Hybrid Brake Feel Issue

Hey, I'm experiencing something weird with my 2023 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid. It's got about 74897 km on it. I've noticed the brake fluid is low, and the brake pedal feels… strange. It's like the feedback isn't quite right, if that makes sense? I'm thinking it might be the brakes themselves, but wanted to check if anyone else has run into this.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I've got a Tacoma too (not the hybrid though), and I had a similar thing happen last year. Low brake fluid and the pedal felt kinda spongy, like stepping on a marshmallow. Any noises when you brake? Squealing or grinding?

Thanks for the quick reply! No noises, thankfully. Just the weird pedal feel and the low fluid. Was it definitely the brakes on yours, or could it be something else in the hydraulic system?

Well, I topped off the fluid which helped a little, but the problem came back pretty quick. Took it to my local shop and yep, brakes were worn down pretty good. New pads and rotors sorted it right out. Brake systems are kinda like a chain, one weak link messes everything up. Better get it checked before it gets worse!

Appreciate the insight! Sounds like I'm headed to the shop. Just got the car back and you were spot on – new pads and rotors did the trick. Cost me about 480€, but at least the brakes are back to normal!
