Tacoma Hybrid Generator Failure

Has anyone experienced generator issues with their 2023 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid? I've got 163534 km on the clock and I'm seeing reduced engine power, a warning light on the dash, and the engine is struggling to start. The lights are also flickering weakly. I pulled the error codes and it's pointing towards a faulty generator.

Interesting. I've got a Tacoma, though not the hybrid, and a few years older. I had a very similar set of symptoms a while back - engine misfire, difficulty starting, dimming lights. I initially suspected the battery, but that checked out fine. Did you check the serpentine belt? It's a long shot, but sometimes a slipping belt can cause the alternator to underperform, triggering similar issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did check the belt, it seems okay. But I am not sure. Did you eventually find out what was the cause of your problems?

Affirmative. Eventually, it turned out to be a defective alternator, or generator as you call it. Given the error code you retrieved and the symptoms you describe, especially with a hybrid system involved, I strongly recommend having it diagnosed by a qualified technician. It could be more complex than a simple alternator replacement on a standard ICE vehicle.

Thank you. I appreciate the insight. I took it to the workshop, they confirmed it's a defective generator and quoted 960€ for the replacement. Seems like there's no way around it.
