Tacoma Hybrid High Voltage Error
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Tacoma hybrid is experiencing a high-voltage system error, causing the engine to shut off and power to reduce. The problem may be related to the high-voltage battery, which could be heavily discharged or defective. It is advised to have the vehicle scanned for specific fault codes and consult a shop specializing in hybrids, as the issue might also involve the inverter. In a similar case, the battery was identified as the problem and required repair.

No weird noises or smells, just the sudden shut-off and error message. I haven't scanned for specific codes yet. I'll try to do that soon, but assuming it is the battery, what did you end up doing?

If it is the high-voltage battery, there isn't much you can do yourself. I would suggest you go to a shop that knows about hybrids. These electrical faults can be tricky, and might even be an inverter issue. In my case, the battery was the problem.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a local shop, and they confirmed it was a battery issue. Repair came out to about 290€.

I had a similar issue with my Tacoma. Noticed any weird noises or smells before it happens? It could be a battery problem if it's heavily discharged or even defective. Have you scanned for any specific fault codes?
