Tacoma start stop malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Toyota Tacoma owner experienced a malfunction with the start-stop system, where the engine would not automatically restart after shutting off at a stop. This issue was accompanied by an error message and warning light. A fellow Tacoma owner suggested that a discharged or defective battery might be the cause. Upon professional inspection, it was confirmed that the battery was indeed the problem, and replacing it resolved the issue.

Hmm, discharged battery, you say? How would I even check that myself? Is there a way to tell for sure, or am I better off just taking it somewhere?

Checking it yourself can be tricky. In my case, same symptoms pointed to a bad battery. I'd say it's best to get it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I had it checked out and you were right. The battery was indeed the culprit, and it needed replacing. Cost me about 290€, but at least the start-stop is working again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Tacoma too. Had similar start-stop problems. Is the battery heavily discharged, or possibly defective?
