Tacoma transmission oil pressure sensor fault

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2023 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid. It's got about 123k km on it. The engine warning light came on, and the error code points to a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. I've noticed the gearbox sometimes slips, shifts a bit rough, and occasionally makes a grinding noise. I've checked the basics, but could a low oil level really cause all this?

I had similar symptoms on my Tacoma. The transmission went into emergency mode as well. Have you checked the oil level yourself? That was the first thing the workshop checked on mine.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, I checked the oil level, and it seemed fine at first glance. But now that you mention it, maybe I wasn't thorough enough. Where exactly did you find the oil level to be in relation to the dipstick markings?

I didn't check it myself initially. The workshop diagnosed it. They told me it was critically low. I'd recommend taking it to a professional to get it properly checked and topped up. It might save you some serious damage.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right - the oil level was indeed the culprit. They topped it off, replaced the sensor, and cleared the code. Cost me around 365€. Runs like new now!
