Tacuma Auto Gearbox Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Chevy Tacuma is experiencing issues with the automatic gearbox, including failure to engage in 'Park', engine starting problems, a check engine light, gearbox slipping, and an active error memory. The suspected cause is the transmission control unit. It is recommended to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired by a professional, as it may require more than a simple adjustment.

Yeah, it does feel like the linkage is off. Do you think it's the same control unit issue? How much of a headache was it to sort?

In my case, the issue was related to the transmission control. Given the error codes and the slippage you're experiencing, it might be beyond a simple adjustment. I'd suggest getting it to a workshop to diagnose it properly. It's not a job for a novice.

Appreciate the heads-up. Sounds like I'm heading straight to the shop. Garage quoted around 1000€ for the repair, so I guess we found the culprit.

I had similar symptoms on my Tacuma, although not quite as severe. Does it feel like the gear linkage isn't engaging properly in park?
