Tacuma rain light sensor faulty
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevrolet Tacuma owner reported a faulty rain-light sensor, causing issues with automatic wipers, headlights, and speedometer dimming. The problem was suspected to be due to bubbles under the gel pad of the windshield affecting the sensor's performance. A workshop confirmed this and resolved the issue by replacing the gel pad, restoring the vehicle's functions.

Thanks for the reply. The windshield hasn't been replaced, and I can't see any visible damage. Where exactly should I be looking for corrosion on the wiring?

If there is no evident damage or replaced windshield, it is possible that bubbles have formed under the gel pad of the windshield and are affecting the sensor's performance. I would recommend consulting with a qualified technician. They can diagnose the issue properly, as incorrect handling of electronic components can be dangerous.

Thanks, I appreciate the help! Took it to a workshop, and it turns out you were right about the gel pad. They replaced it, and it cost me 62€. Everything's working again now.

I understand you are experiencing issues with the rain-light sensor in your Chevrolet Tacuma. Has the windshield ever been replaced, or has it sustained any damage in the area of the sensor? Furthermore, have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the sensor for any signs of corrosion or damage?
