Tacuma rough running
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevy Tacuma is experiencing rough running, loss of power, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle, with the check engine light on. Possible causes include a rich fuel mixture due to a faulty mass airflow sensor, fouled spark plugs, or an intake manifold leak. Cleaning the mass airflow sensor is suggested as a potential DIY solution, but professional diagnostics are recommended. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing a defective fuel injector.

A 'rich mixture'? So, like, too much gas getting in? How would I check the airflow sensor, and is that something I could maybe fix myself?

Yes, a 'rich mixture' means the engine is getting more fuel than air. You can try cleaning the mass airflow sensor (MAF), but be extremely careful; they are delicate. If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, it is best to have a workshop perform diagnostics to confirm the MAF sensor, injectors, or other components are at fault.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Took it to a shop; they said it was a defective fuel injector. 515€ later, it's running like new again!

Those symptoms sound like a mixture preparation error, specifically a rich mixture, indicated by too much fuel. I faced similar issues with my Tacuma. Have you checked the mass airflow sensor? A faulty sensor can cause the engine to think it needs more fuel than it actually does. Fouled spark plugs or even a leak in the intake manifold could also be suspects.
