Tahoe Overheating Electric Fan Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe is experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be due to an impaired electric radiator fan. The fan is not spinning freely, indicating potential resistance. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness and connections, which revealed a bad connection causing inconsistent power to the fan motor. The problem was confirmed and fixed at a workshop, where a defective cable/plug connection was repaired.

Yes, the radiator fan. It's not spinning freely. I can turn it by hand, but it has more resistance than it should. What did you find was the issue on your Tahoe?

Okay, mine turned out to be a bad connection in the wiring harness going to the fan motor. It wasn't getting consistent power, hence the overheating. A friend of mine, who is a mechanic, suggested I check the cable and plug connections first. I think you should take it to a workshop. That way, you can be sure that nothing worse is broken.

Thanks for the insight. I'll check the wiring harness and connections more thoroughly. Ultimately took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection, as you suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my Tahoe. Overheating can be a pain. When you say 'electric fan,' are you referring to the radiator fan? It could be a faulty fan clutch or even the fan motor itself. Before you go down that road, check the simplest thing first: is the fan actually spinning freely? If not, something might be blocking it.
