Talento Active Hood Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Fiat Talento diesel with 122,971 km displayed an 'Active hood fault' and an airbag warning light. Diagnostic checks revealed that the spring actuators were triggered, suggesting a potential issue with the acceleration sensor. A faulty sensor was confirmed as the cause, and it was recommended to check the wiring and connections. Ultimately, the sensor was replaced and the system recalibrated at a certified workshop, resolving the issue.

Thanks! If I understand correctly, a defective acceleration sensor might be the problem. Could you please provide the exact error code you retrieved and where the acceleration sensor is located?

The error code I retrieved was related to an open circuit or short to ground in the active hood system. The sensor is usually mounted near the hood latch mechanism or on the front crash structure. Given that your spring actuators have already deployed, it might be best to consult a qualified workshop to avoid further complications or accidental airbag deployment. They will have the appropriate diagnostic tools and expertise to pinpoint the exact cause and perform the necessary repairs.

I took the Talento to a certified workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective acceleration sensor. The sensor was replaced, and the entire system was recalibrated. Total cost: 315€. Thanks for your guidance!

I had a similar issue with my Talento, but the spring actuators weren't triggered. The error code pointed toward a faulty acceleration sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the sensor? It might be a simple fix like a loose connector or corroded terminals.
