Talisman Crankshaft Camshaft Reference Value Error
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Renault Talisman diesel exhibited symptoms of reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with a diagnostic error indicating a 'Crankshaft to camshaft reference value' issue. The problem was suspected to be caused by a defective crankshaft sensor, which can lead to these symptoms and trigger the error code. After replacing the faulty sensor, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned checking the timing. If the timing is off, would that directly trigger this reference value error?

Exactly. If the timing between the crankshaft and camshaft is out of sync, the ECU will detect the incorrect reference value and throw that error code. However, the defective sensor is the most likely cause, so you should get it checked ASAP by a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight! Took it to the workshop, and you were right. The crankshaft sensor was indeed defective. Replaced it for 340€, and everything's running smoothly again.

That sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra after the timing belt skipped a tooth. Check your reference value! It might be a sensor issue, but also check the timing.
