Talisman Cruise Control Failure

Cruise control stopped working on my 2018 Renault Talisman diesel. No dashboard warnings, but a scan showed a cruise control error. I suspect a defective cable or plug. I checked the brake light switch, and the brake lights are fine. Anyone else have this happen with their Talisman?

I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra. My cruise control quit, no warning lights at first. A faulty pedal switch or a blown fuse could also be the reason. Did you check the fuses related to the cruise control? Have you tried wiggling the wires around the steering wheel controls? Sometimes it's just a loose connection. If that doesn't work, check the error memory again.

Thanks for the fuse suggestion! I checked the relevant fuses, and they seem okay. When your Opel Astra had this issue, did the error memory point to a specific component or just a general 'cruise control malfunction' message?

My error code was pretty vague, something like 'cruise control system fault'. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They checked the connections and it was a corroded connector in the steering wheel controls. It might be worthwhile getting a professional opinion. Better safe than sorry! A defective cruise control could be unsafe.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I will take my Talisman to a trusted workshop and ask them to focus on the wiring and connectors within the steering wheel area. The repair wasn't that expensive. The cable or plug connection was indeed defective, and I paid 95€ for the repair.
