Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't had the exhaust sensor checked specifically. I just assumed it was something else at first. Did changing the sensor fix the issue for you completely, or were there other things you had to do?

Yeah, for me, changing the exhaust back pressure sensor sorted everything out. The symptoms you described are exactly what I experienced. I'd strongly suggest getting it checked at a workshop. If it is the sensor, the part itself isn't crazy expensive, but you might want a professional to install it. Cost me around 245€ all in.

Great, thanks for the info! I'll take it to the shop and ask them to check the exhaust sensor first thing. Hopefully, that's all it is. Fingers crossed!

Sounds familiar! I've got a Renault Talisman too, and I had a similar issue a while back. Was the exhaust back pressure sensor ever checked? It could be defective, preventing the DPF from regenerating properly and causing the smoke. Have you noticed any performance issues besides the smoke and warning light?
