Talisman keyless access issues

I'm having a weird issue with my 2020 Renault Talisman gasoline. It's got about 154k km on it. The car keeps telling me the key battery is low. At first, I ignored it, but now the keyless access doesn't work anymore. I also get an error stored and sometimes I can't lock or unlock the car properly. Could it really just be the key fob battery?

I had something similar happen with my Talisman. When you say 'not working properly', do you mean it takes multiple tries, or it just plain doesn't respond? Have you tried the spare key to see if it gives you the same error message? The car's computer might be overly sensitive, but it's also possible there's something draining the battery faster than normal. A car key uses a coin cell battery, usually a CR2032. They're cheap, but I'd try the other key first.

Thanks for the quick reply! When I say 'not working properly' I mean exactly what you said, sometimes it takes multiple tries to open or close the doors. And no, I haven't tried the spare key yet... good point! I will test it immediately. But if it's also showing the same error with the spare key, what could that mean?

If both keys are showing the same error, and you're having trouble with the locks, it's probably just a low battery in both fobs. I'd still recommend going to a workshop. They can check the error memory and replace the battery. I had to pay 37€ to fix it.

Okay, that makes sense. I'll try the spare key first, and if that doesn't solve it, I'll head to the workshop. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
