Metal shavings, huh? Good call, I didn't think of that. Where exactly would I check for those? Like, on the dipstick, or when I drain the oil? And if there are shavings, what does that usually mean?

Yeah, check the dipstick first. If you see any glittery bits, that's not good. Also, when you drain the oil, look closely at what comes out. Metal shavings usually mean something internal is wearing out, like bearings. Honestly, with those symptoms, best get it to a workshop ASAP. Running it with low oil pressure can cause serious damage.

Appreciate the advice. I brought the car to the workshop straight away. Turns out the oil pump was buggered, just as I feared. Cost me 755€ to get it sorted but at least the engine is running smoothly again. Thanks for confirming my fears and giving me a kick in the right direction!

Sounds nasty. I had a similar issue with my Talisman a while back. Same oil pressure warning light and engine noise. Did you check the oil for any metal shavings? That could indicate internal damage.
