Talisman rain light sensor issue

Experiencing a perplexing issue with the rain-light sensor on my 2016 Renault Talisman (gasoline engine). Error memory stores a fault, automatic wiping mode during rain is non-functional, automatic headlight control has stopped working, and the speedometer dimming isn't functioning. Lights keep switching on without reason. Anyone encountered something similar? Read that bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield could be the culprit.

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Renault Talisman is experiencing issues with its rain-light sensor, affecting automatic wipers, headlights, and speedometer dimming. The problem may be caused by bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield, disrupting sensor functionality. A suggested solution is to visit a workshop for sensor calibration or replacement, which resolved the issue in a similar case.

Wow, that sounds eerily familiar! I drive a Talisman too, and I had almost the exact same set of problems a while back. Tell me, does it happen all the time, or just intermittently? Did you notice if it started happening after any specific event, like a windshield replacement?

Thanks! It seems to be happening almost constantly now, very rarely it works briefly. No windshield replacement or anything of that sort recently. It just started gradually, worsening over time. Could you elaborate on how you resolved your issue?

Okay, constant issue plus no recent windshield work... sounds even more like what I experienced. Honestly, after messing with it for a while, I just took it to a workshop. They mentioned calibrating or even replacing the sensor. I'm not really a car expert, sorry I can't give you more advice than that.

Thank you so much for sharing! It's reassuring to know I'm not alone in this. I visited the workshop today. You were right: bubbles had formed under the gel pad, messing with the sensor. They replaced it, calibrated the new one, and all's well now; it cost me 62€.
