Talisman Torque Converter Issue

I have noticed a slight decrease in fuel economy, but nothing drastic. The grinding noises seem to be more prevalent when shifting between lower gears, particularly from first to second. Does this information provide any further clarity on the potential issue?

Indeed, the fact that the grinding is more pronounced in lower gears strengthens the likelihood of a defective torque converter. Given the symptoms, error code, and your description, it's highly probable that the automatic transmission converter is failing. While a complete diagnosis requires a thorough inspection, I strongly suggest taking your Talisman to a reputable workshop specializing in automatic transmissions. Continuing to drive with a failing torque converter can cause further damage to the transmission, potentially increasing the repair costs significantly. I had a similar issue that I ignored and I ended up regretting it, as a small repair ballooned into a full rebuild.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and advice. I scheduled an appointment with a trusted workshop as soon as possible to have the transmission inspected. The diagnosis confirmed a defective torque converter and the repair cost 2120€. Thank you again for your assistance.

Your symptoms certainly point towards a potential torque converter issue, especially given the error code you retrieved. I recall a similar incident with a previous vehicle, though it was a different make and model. A failing torque converter often presents with those exact symptoms: engine surge, slippage, and unusual noises. Have you noticed any change in fuel economy recently? Also, are the grinding noises consistent across all gears, or more pronounced in certain ones?
