Taurus audio system failure

Audio system is dead in my 2003 Ford Taurus (gasoline engine). No sound at all. I scanned it and there's an error code, but I don't have the details. Suspecting it's the display since that controls everything. Anyone else run into this?

Dude, I had almost the same thing happen in my Taurus! No sound, and I was getting static even with the volume down. I'm no expert, but did you check the wiring harness? Sometimes those connections get loose or corroded. What about the speakers? Are they working?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the wiring harness specifically, but I did wiggle some wires behind the radio and nothing changed. Speakers? Good question. I don't know how to check the speakers. Any tips on what I should look for?

Yeah, sounds super familiar. I didn't try to check the speakers, because I am not good with electronics. I think it is best to go straight to a car workshop nearby. The guys in the workshop told me that the display was broken and needed to be replaced.

Appreciate the insight. Sounds like I might be heading to a workshop too. Replacing the display sounds expensive. I had a preliminary check and it will cost around 725€. Thanks for confirming it's not just me!
