Taurus Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Ford Taurus is experiencing engine stalling and the check engine light is on, possibly due to a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve. This could indicate a vacuum leak or idle problem. A similar issue on another vehicle was caused by a hairline crack in a vacuum hose, suggesting that a professional inspection might be necessary to accurately diagnose and fix the problem. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked at a repair shop to identify and resolve any leaks.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Yeah, I suspected that as well, regarding the air supply. I did a visual check, but didn't notice anything obvious. Could you elaborate a bit more on what you found on your Opel regarding the air supply? Was it a specific component or connection?

On my Opel, it turned out to be a hairline crack in a vacuum hose that was causing a major air leak. Given the location and how easily it could be missed during a visual check, I recommend having it professionally inspected with proper workshop tools. They'll be able to identify leaks more precisely and tell you where the issue is.

Thanks for the input! Thought so too. I will drive over to the repair shop and have it checked. Just got the repair bill - approx. 175€ for parts and labor. At least nothing more than a defective hose!

I had a similar issue on my old Opel Astra, though symptoms may vary from car to car. The check engine light and idle problems were pointing towards a intake air supply problem. Did you manage to check the air supply for obstructions, or at least considered it?
