Taurus Intake Air Temperature Sensor Fault

My 2017 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light is on, engine power is down, and I'm getting an intake air temperature fault code. It idles rough too. My diagnostic tool points to a faulty IAT sensor. Anyone seen this?

I drive a Taurus too, and I had something similar happen. Reduced power and rough running. What readings were you getting from the IAT sensor? Was it showing crazy high or low temperatures, or just a nonsensical value?

The diagnostic tool displayed an implausible temperature reading, way outside the expected range, even with a cold engine. Did you replace the sensor yourself, or did you go to a professional?

Yep, that sounds very familiar. Mine was doing the same thing. I'm not much of a mechanic, so I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the IAT sensor and replaced it. It's worth getting checked by someone who knows what they're doing.

I appreciate the insight. I had a hunch it needed professional attention. The workshop just called; it was indeed the IAT sensor as suspected. Repair cost 155€. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
