Taurus Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure

I have a 2007 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine. The multifunction steering wheel isn't working, and there's an error stored. Has anyone experienced something similar? I suspect a cable connection in the steering wheel might be defective.

Hey there, I've got a Taurus as well, though I don't remember the exact year. Your problem sounds eerily familiar. It's like when your TV remote stops working – frustrating, right? Did you check the simple stuff first, like fuses related to the steering column or any visible damage around the steering wheel?

I have inspected the relevant fuses and have found no indication of failure. Furthermore, a preliminary visual inspection revealed no obvious damage. Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you experienced, and if any troubleshooting steps led you to a definitive conclusion?

Okay, so my Taurus had the exact same symptoms – steering wheel controls completely dead. I messed around with it for an afternoon but couldn't figure it out. Honestly, I'd bite the bullet and take it to a reputable workshop. It could be a sensor issue, and messing with the steering column yourself can be risky, like performing surgery with a butter knife.

I appreciate your advice. Based on your experience and the potential risks involved, I have elected to take the vehicle to a qualified workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective cable connection within the steering wheel, and the repair was completed for 95€.
