Taurus Oil Temperature Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Taurus is experiencing issues with the engine oil temperature warning light and sometimes the oil pressure warning light. The suspected cause is a faulty engine oil temperature sensor, with a defective cable or plug connection. Cleaning the contacts did not resolve the issue, and a workshop visit confirmed the sensor was faulty, leading to its replacement.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks! Yes, I did try cleaning the contacts with some electrical contact cleaner, but that didn't resolve the issue. The symptoms persist. Was your oil pressure light also activating intermittently, or was it just the temperature warning?

Yes, the oil pressure light came on intermittently as well. Given you've already cleaned the contacts, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can confirm the sensor is faulty and rule out any other potential issues.

Thank you so much for your advice. It seems like a trip to the shop was needed. They confirmed a faulty sensor and the repair cost was 95€. I appreciate you sharing your experience!

I had an almost identical problem with my Taurus. It's like your car is telling you a story with lights! In my case, the sensor was indeed the issue. Did you try cleaning the contacts on the plug before replacing it?
